5. Congress of European ORL-Head and Neck Surgery

Dear Colleagues,

Dear Friends,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to join us for the 5th Congress of European ORL-Head & Neck Surgery, to be held in Brussels from June 29 to July 3, 2019.

This will be the first time that the congress will be fully organized by the Confederation of European ORL-HNS itself.

Brussels lies in the center of Europe and can easily be reached from all over the world by plane, train or car. The meeting venue «Square» is located right in the heart of the city, a stone’s throw away from the «Grand Place», Brussel’s historical center, as well as from many of the major museums. Hotels and restaurants are to be found all around, not to mention brasseries serving a large range of Belgian beers as well as numerous chocolate shops. We do hope that the scientific program will prove stimulating enough to beat these tempting surroundings and keep participants engaged in the congress proceedings!

Our aim is to foster the Confederation’s openness to all parts of the world. That is why we will make sure to request the collaboration from colleagues from the Middle East, North and Latin America, Asia, Africa as well as Oceania in order to involve them in the program.

In addition, we will keep the interests of our young colleagues, residents and young Academics in mind when designing the program.

As you know, it was a long journey to build the Confederation of European ORL-HNS which is based on three main pillars: the European scientific societies, the European national societies and the UEMS ORL Section & Board.

This close collaboration will manifest itsef in the setup of the International Scientific Committee, headed by Elizabeth Sjögren. It is this committee which will propose, select and organize panels, key-note lectures and free papers sessions, thus ensuring a strong scientific program. In addition, the European Board exam in ORL-HNS will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

We are of course grateful to the organizers of the four previous congresses, organized alternatively by EUFOS and European Academy of ORL-HNS. They were very successful despite sometimes challenging circumstances and serve as great examples to us.

In conclusion of this welcome message, the both of us would like to say that, above all, we wish to have a productive congress in a friendly atmosphere.
