On behalf of the organising committee, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the RANZCP 2019 NZ Conference “Broadening Horizons”.
The meeting is being held here in Nelson from 18-20 September. Nelson is a vibrant town, the geographical centre of New Zealand, with not one but 3 local National parks - Abel Tasman, Nelson Lakes and Kahurangi. These natural playgrounds are the ideal backdrop for many sporting activities, making Nelson's outdoor lifestyle a renowned attraction. Nelson also boasts a variety of top class restaurants, numerous local wineries and craft breweries, and an active arts and crafts scene. You may well want to extend your stay!
The conference theme “Broadening Horizons” is inspired by our desire to share innovation, research and clinical practice in psychiatry and related fields and to ensure you hear a diverse range of information, opinions and voices. 2019 is the year of the “Wellness Budget” and the governments' response to He Ara Oranga – The Inquiry into Mental Health and Addictions. We hope our programme will inspire you to respond creatively to these challenges and provide a forum for active collaboration. Our eminent national and international speakers will provide stimulating food for thought. We have an interesting line-up of concurrent sessions, poster and oral presentations.
Apart from the scientific programme there will be opportunities to meet with old friends and new with a Welcome reception and Conference dinner with some very interesting psychiatric flavours!
