INVITATION
On behalf of the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand, the organising committee of the 2019 Annual Scientific Meeting invite you to join us in Cairns between 6-9 June.
The theme for 2019 is Trauma: A Crash Course. The meeting aims to cover a variety of aspects of trauma from Mechanism, Injury, Severity, and Treatment. This ASM is packed full of critical care pearls pertinent to all practising intensive care clinicians.
The program will:
Include a focus on mechanical and medical methods of haemostasis
Discuss high-tech hybrid operating theatres as well as more austere environments
Transport the audience to the prehospital setting, including military and disaster zones
Provide a whirlwind top-to-toe tour of trauma updates and more...Invited speakers include intensivists, surgeons, radiologists, and haematologists with interests in trauma and trauma systems. Our international speakers are Associate Professor Samuel Galvagno (University of Maryland), Professor Chad Ball (University of Calgary) and Dr Nicola Curry (Oxford University Hospital).
With a diverse range of topics, the program is sure to offer wide-ranging appeal and offer lessons translatable to broader intensive care practice.
Situated at the heart of Tropical North Queensland, Cairns is surrounded by breathtaking beauty and blessed with a relaxed tropical climate and a laidback atmosphere. Cairns is nestled at the base of mountain ranges, fringed by rainforest and lined by the tropical Esplanade. Why not take a day trip to nearby Green or Fitzroy Islands to explore the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven wonders of the natural world. Head north and absorb the natural beauty of the world’s oldest continually living rainforest – The Daintree National Park, also World Heritage listed.
Our Thursday and Friday social events will embrace the true tastes of far North Queensland, giving you a chance to indulge in some of the finest food of our region whilst catching up with friends.
Saturday evening will be one of celebration at the ASM Dinner and Graduation Ceremony. As you enter through the original timber doors of the Cairns Cruise Terminal, step back in time and experience the history and magnificent workmanship of this stunning venue. Originally a working wharf, the building has been beautifully restored and transformed into a state-of-the-art venue.
With stunning views across the spectacular Trinity Inlet to the surrounding mountains, this beautiful setting is ideal for us to come together as a College and celebrate the achievements of our New Fellows.
We look forward to welcoming everyone to Tropical North Queensland for the 2019 Annual Scientific Meeting of the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.
