Greetings from the Organising Committee of IAPCON 2020, Guwahati !
Welcome to the fascinating and vibrant North Eastern part of India. Indian Association of Palliative Care is pleased to announce its 27th International Conference on Palliative Care (IAPCON 2020, Guwahati), scheduled from Feb 14th to 16th, 2020 with preconference workshops being organized on Feb 13th, 2020 at Guwahati Medical College, Guwahati.
The theme of the Conference is "Entrust, Engage & Empower". It signifies teamwork and multidisciplinary approach to palliative care and the power to be an inclusive specialty. The objective of the Conference are:
* Improve and expand existing knowledge and skills of individuals working in Palliative care.
* Augment the ability to provide professional, competent and empathetic care to patients and their families.
* Ensure timely delivery of Palliative care in the community by advocating and facilitating increased consciousness about palliative care.
* Take up collective responsibility to ensure availability of essential drugs in palliative care.
* Provide and opportunity and platform for informal caregivers to learn about palliative care.
During IAPCON 2020, Guwahati, we hope that you will seize the opportunity to revive ongoing connections and spark new ones with your colleagues from around the globe. We are privileged to host IAPCON 2020 in the city of Guwahati in Assam. Being the largest city of North-east India and a key urban center of Assam, Guwahati is the major gateway to the seven sisters!
It has rich cultural heritage going back to the Ahom Dynasty which governed the region for many centuries before the British occupation.
Please spend a couple of extra days to enjoy the green beauty of Assam and adjoining states, to visit the holy Kamakshya temple, Kaziranga national park, Beautiful Shillong, rain capital of the world at nearby Cherapunji and the vibrant, multifaceted culture of the northeastern India. Guwahati is also called now the sports capital of India and it is one of the fastest growing cities in India. Assam is world famous for its quality of tea as well as the Natural beauty of the tea plantations.
