On behalf of our organisations, it gives us great pleasure to invite you to the 19th Congress of the ASEAN Neurosurgical Society Incorporating The Inaugural Scientific Meeting of the Continental 2nd Vice- Presidents of WFNS (Asia-Australasia, Africa & Arab) AAA
The last year was a year of lockdown, social distancing, staying behind masks and PPEs as we joined the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Neurosurgeons rose to the call of duty and we have lost dear colleagues to the pandemic. As of the moment you are reading this message, the world at large is not out of the pandemic and even as we roll out the vaccines, we know it will take time.
It it more important to remember that the rest of healthcare still requires our services and medicine in the field of neurosurgery continues to progress at rapid speed.
Therefore, as host and organiser of the 19th Congress of the ASEAN Neurosurgical Society Incorporating The Inaugural Scientific Meeting of the Continental 2nd Vice-Presidents of WFNS (Asia- Australasia, Africa & Arab), Neurosurgical Association of Malaysia (NAM) gathered together with Professor Dato’ Dr Hari Chandran, 2nd Vice-President (Asia-Australasia) WFNS; Prof Dr Abderrahmane Sidi Said, 2nd Vice- President (Africa) WFNS; Prof Dr Nasser El-Ghandour, 2nd Vice-President At Large (Middle East) WFNS and Dr Vanh Dong Hi, President of ASEAN decided to forge ahead with the planning of this congress to ensure that medical education for neurosurgery continues. We trust that the congress will be a huge success under the capable leadership of Dr Regunath Kandasamy, Organising Chairman.
We choose to hold this congress as a virtual congress for us to transcend physical boundaries and bridge the distance between us.
Do mark your calendars for the 5th to 7th June 2021 as it will be a very interesting meeting. Our scientific committee is working rigorously to put together a programme that will break the norms of webinars.
