16. Pan American Congress of Neurology

Dear friends,

On behalf of the Pan American Federation of Neurological Societies (PAFNS), the Colombian Neurological Association and under the auspices of World Federation of Neurology, we welcome all of you to the XVI Pan American Congress of Neurology (The first organized by the PAFNS) to be held on March 11-14, 2021.

In 1963 the first meeting of Latin American neurologists was held in Lima, Peru. Since then the Pan American Congresses have been taking place every four years. The creation of the PAFNS began in March, 2012 in La Paz, Bolivia, subsequently the PAFNS board was further developed and approved during the congress organized by the Mexican Academy of Neurology in Cancun, Mexico 2016. The PAFNS office is based in Santiago, Chile. Subsequently, PAFNS as an entity received massive support during the Pan American Congress of Neurology in Sao Paulo, Brazil 2019. To continue the tradition of holding congresses across the Americas, the XVI Pan American Congress of Neurology is going to be the first PAFNS jointly organized congress held in collaboration with the Colombian Neurological Society. Colombia hosted the Pan American Congress of Neurology in 1999 that was held in Cartagena, which was a very successful congress “at the dawn of a new millennium”.

The PAFNS scientific program committee has prepared an exciting program covering diverse topics such as CVD, Migraine & Headache, Sleep Medicine, MS, Movement disorders, Dementia & cognition, Epilepsy, Muscle & nerve disorders, Neuro-ophthalmology, Neuroepidemiology, Tropical Neurology, Education in Neurology and new areas as Telemedicine,, COVID19 & Neurology, Intraoperative monitoring and Neurological disorders in the woman.

The Congress is open to everyone interested in the field. The academic and personal quality of the speakers ensures a most successful event.

Young neurologists and residents are encouraged to attend and submit papers for platform and poster presentations in order to be fully involved in the future of Pan American Neurology.
