15. Congress of The European Association for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics

Dear Colleagues,

As the current and the past-chair of the EACPT, and the chair of the local organizing committee respectively, we would cordially like to invite you to participate in the 15th Congress of the European Association for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics which will be held in Athens, Greece, 25-28 June 2022.

The first congress of the EACPT took place in Paris in 1995 and was followed by a very successful series of meetings across Europe, bringing together scientists from all over the world in fruitful and enjoyable encounters. At the last congress in Stockholm in 2019, we had an attendance of more than 500 delegates from 50 different countries. With the upcoming hybrid congress in Athens, we aim to surpass these numbers. The theme of the Congress will be “Clinical pharmacology, now more than ever”, addressing all current issues in modern therapeutics, from new diseases to personalized treatment approaches.

Clinical pharmacologists embrace large domains and use many tools, from a molecular perspective on drug-target interactions, all the way through to individual patient care, patient group needs, and epidemiological and global considerations for the safe and effective use of medicines. Among these tools, emphasis will be put on -omics and biomarkers, artificial intelligence and innovative clinical trial designs, among others. We will also be paying particular attention to orphan drugs, drug repurposing, special populations, ICH guidelines, regulatory pathways, as well as COVID-19 pharmacologic issues.

The programme of our Congress will include an exciting mixture of key notes, workshops, debates and scientific presentations. Clinical Pharmacologists will all come together, share knowledge and discuss how they can use innovative tools to solve the many challenges of modern health care, e.g. population ageing worldwide, increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, new possibilities to treat the critically ill, health care sustainability, antimicrobial resistance and new viral threats to mankind.

Athens is a worldwide destination with attractive sites, fantastic weather and a pleasant lifestyle that will certainly function as a magnet to attract many scientists. There will be the possibility to participate in person in Athens or via the EACPT virtual Congress platform, or both. Our virtual platform is a state-of-the-art system that allows interaction between delegates and is very user friendly. Our sincere hope is that you will join us in this adventure and contribute to make this an exciting and successful congress, for the sake of our patients, both now and in the future!
